Breakouts, blemishes and acne is a problem we all face at some point in our lives right? Although more common in teen, acne can still affect a large number of people in there adult years.

So what actually is Acne and why oh why do we get it?!

Acne is inflamed and clogged sebaceous glands and hair follicles and as much as I wish there was a “one size fits all” answer to why we get it, its pretty darn complex. Although what often appears to be an issue on the outer has generally stemmed from the inner. In other words, your hormones, dietary choices and lifestyle habits can trigger acne and inflammation in the skin.

So what on earth will help?

Finding out the root cause of your acne can be challenging and expensive, I get it!! Naturopath visits, possibly investing supplements, and changing your diet can be unfavourable on the good old bank card. That why I wanted to share with you a very simple, and in expensive DIY face serum that I have personally used to calm inflammation and redness in my skin.  I’m all about treating ACNE and blemishes the natural way!

So what are these 3 magic ingredients?

JOJOBA OIL

Believe it or not Jojoba oil actually isn’t an oil, its an polyunsaturated wax. Very similar to our skins natural sebum, it fools the skin into thinking the sebum amount is already high. This in turn decreases the skin’s natural oil production. Amazing right! Not only does the oil provide moisturising properties to decrease the lines and bumps of a scar, but it continues to heal them too.

BLUE TANSY OIL

Blue tansy essential oil is high in an ingredient called Azulene. Azulene has powerful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that promotes calming and soothing skin effects, helping to reduce redness and refine skin imperfections. Blue tansy supports the body’s natural response to irritation making it a fantastic addition to your face serum.

FYI - its a gorgeous deep blue colour that fades after you rub it in.

TEA TREE OIL

Tea tree oil has many hidden properties, its antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antiseptic and an antimicrobial which are all really powerful in treating acne prone skin. Besides having disinfecting properties, tea tree can soothe the skin which is essential when your skin is burning or itchy.
